About Us

Gios BBQ is a family-owned, local restaurant, convenience and furls store in Woodland, PA.

In 1987Dave Panasiti, the founder of Gio’s Bbq entered a rib cook off in Pittsburgh, PA. Where he won 1st place for “Best Ribs and Best Sauce”. Almost 40 years later and that 1987 rib cook-off was the catalyst for what Gios is today. A renowned BBQ restaurant and fuel, and convenience store. With some of the best mouthwatering BBQ and homemade sauces, you will find.

In December 2021, Dave passed the torch to friend Daniel Royer Jr, a local of Woodland, PA. A local business owner of a family concession business that was started by Daniel Royer Sr. and Carolyn Royer in 1972. He started in the family business when he was 16. His family has also owned restaurants over those years as well so it was a natural transition for him into Gio’s Bbq.

“As the new owner of Gio’s Bbq I plan to continue the legacy Dave started with mouthwatering ribs and homemade sauces while trying to improve and expand the menu and sauce recipes with some of my own ideas. I also am going to try and improve the business with new operation ideas like online ordering, a rewards program, and expanding to a mobile setup as well. Thank you, Daniel Royer “

We just happened onto Gio's on a drive to D.C., then N.C. The pulled pork and sides were so good we decided to start a "best bbq" list for that trip and our upcoming trip from Toronto thru Ohio, KY, TN, Arkansas, TX and Grand Canyon country. Gio's beat out every other BBQ place we tried -- all ten of them. Gio's meat was moist and very tasty. The sides are the best anywhere. And the people who work there.... they match the quality of the food. We will be back when we drive through again.

We stopped on our way back from Wilkes-Barre, PA, where our dtr & family live (on way back home to Delphos, OH) Sept 2011. Billboard said "best BBQ"....AWESOME, mmmm good, the best! We have been back 3 times now, eat there: get food to bring w/us: tell everyone about this gem. Pulled pork is a 'must have', ribs are a 'must try', baked beans are a 'can't live without'! Staff is sweet & work their tails off! Absolute must stop!!

Really Likes It! - The Rib plate was awesome!,Homemade BBQ sauce cooked into ribs...sticky,gooey and good... Ribs were moist and pulled away from bone...Potato salad was fresh and chunky...baked beans were most definitly different....in a good way....never had them fixed with all the different types of beans... I really liked the fact that everything was mild and not over spiced.... Smokey BBQ hits you the minute you get out of truck....

AMAZING. I admit I was skeptical when the spouse pulled into a gas station and said "here we are!",but as soon as I smelled it, I knew we'd made a good choice. Huge servings of great meats and sides. Friendly service. Sure, the ambience isn't 5 star worthy, but the unpretentious atmosphere works. Definitely worth a stop.

Don't drive by this place!! Food was awesome and plentiful. We had the Pittsburger: pulled pork with Cole slaw and French fries. Soooo delicious!! Will be recommending this place to everyone!!

Just backtracked from exit 120 to Gio's after seeing the sign and missing the exit. Best decision ever. Will be stopping here on every trip across I80 from now on!
